Coco first reached out in the very early days of Pien Studios, a connection that stayed, even as both worlds kept moving. When three years later she opened the doors to Esmeralda Serviced Department's first physical store, it felt like the right moment to come together.
in October 2023, Pien Studios took up residence at Esmeralda Service Department in Tokyo. in the days leading up to it, we joined Coco and Makoto on visits to some of Tokyo's most iconic fabric stores, searching for materials that could only come from this city.
What we found became the starting point for a series of scrunchies, made on the spot by Pien herself during the pop-up. Alongside these, we brought a selection of exclusive pieces from Amsterdam, making the pop-up a meeting point between two places we love.
